A Boutique Expedition Vessel for
THE SUNDARBANS

The Naming

Twitcher
/ˈtwɪtʃə/
A twitcher is a specialized birdwatcher. Twitchers travel far, sometimes at a moment’s notice, drawn by the chance of a rare sighting. We named our vessel for that spirit of pursuit and discovery—a spirit that belongs to everyone who is drawn to the Sundarbans, where each turn of the river holds the promise of something extraordinary.

Born as a Lifeboat. Rebuilt for Discovery

A professional marine lifeboat, being transformed at Blue Sail's own boatbuilding shed under the direct supervision of Capt. Zahid and finally touches the water as "MB Twitcher"- a boutique expidition vessel, retaining her maritime charecter while adding comfortable accomodation, air conditioning and space designed specifically for observation and extended journeys in the forest.

Build Arournd Observation.

The forward observation area provides an open vantage point over the waterways, forest edges and tidal landscape. With limited guests onboard, there is room to remain still, photograph, birdwatch and watch for wildlife without the crowded feeling associated with larger vessels. Encounters are never guaranteed—the forest decides what appears and when.

Quiet Power.
Deeper Exploration

She is Equipped with standard life-saving and firefighting equipment along with modern navigation & communication system—including GPS, radar, echo sounder and VHF. Her domestic power is fully supplied from the solar inverter while a silent generator is providing power for Air Conditioning- which is helping us minimize unnecessary noise in an environment where the silence matters.

The Sundarbans offers countless stories, from extraordinary wildlife and tidal waterways to the lives, traditions and resilience of its people.

Our Specialist Journeys invite you to explore beyond familiar routes, discovering the forest through a particular theme, purpose or perspective.

Aboard MB Twitcher, with a small number of guests, each journey allows more time for observation, meaningful conversations and deeper connections with this remarkable landscape.

Whether following nature’s rhythms or exploring local heritage, discover the Sundarbans through a story that speaks to you.

the people of the tide

01. THE PEOPLE OF THE TIDES

The Sundarbans is a tidal world, and generations of people have learned to live according to its rhythms.

02. PEOPLE OF THE FOREST

Beyond the waterways and forest lies another story—the story of communities whose identity and traditions are deeply connected to the landscape.

03. THE HONEY TRAIL

For generations, the forest has provided livelihoods for people willing to venture into one of the world’s most demanding environments.

05. THE CHANGING SUNDARBANS

The Sundarbans has never been a static wilderness. Its rivers shift, islands appear and disappear, channels change course.

06. THE LIVING SUNDARBANS

The Sundarbans is more than a forest. It is a living ecological system where land, water, tides, plants and animals exist in constant relationship.

07. THE SUNDARBANS BIRDING JOURNEY

For those who know where to look, the Sundarbans reveals another world entirely.

08. THE TIDAL SUNDARBANS

Twice each day, water enters and leaves the forest, transforming channels, mudflats and creeks. The landscape guests see in the morning may look entirely different by afternoon.

09. THE FORGOTTEN DELTA

Long before the Sundarbans became a destination for modern travellers, this delta was already a landscape of movement, settlement, trade and survival.

10. SUNDARBANS THROUGH THE LENS

Light changes across the water. Mist rises from the forest. Wildlife appears without warning. A fishing boat becomes a silhouette against the evening sky.

11. THE WARMING SUNDARBANS

Beyond the waterways and forest lies another story—the story of communities whose identity and traditions are deeply connected to the landscape.

MORE THAN JUST THE JOURNEYS

These ten Specialist Journeys are not intended to define every way the Sundarbans can be understood. They are a beginning. As our knowledge grows, as relationships develop and as new stories emerge from the landscape, Blue Sail Travelers will continue to develop journeys around subjects that deserve deeper attention. Some may be seasonal. Some may be developed with specialists. Some may be shaped together with local communities. And some may exist simply because we encountered a story worth following.

THE BLUE SAIL APPROACH

img 20261018 wa0005

We believe the most meaningful journeys are not necessarily the ones that cover the greatest distance. They are the ones that allow us to look more closely. To listen longer. To ask better questions. To understand the landscape beyond its postcard image. And to leave with something more valuable than photographs alone—a deeper understanding of the place we have visited.
